The ticket led by Haddad brings together a broad political alliance, including former Governor Márcio França (Brazilian Socialist Party – PSB) as the candidate for lieutenant governor, as well as the Senate candidacies of Minister Simone Tebet (PSB) and Minister Marina Silva (Rede Sustainability).
During his speech, the president emphasized that Brazil’s political future must be determined exclusively by the Brazilian people, rejecting any form of pressure or intervention by foreign leaders or political forces.
“No one from outside should come here trying to interfere in our elections. I’m not one to make empty threats, and I don’t like saying things I can’t do. But let me tell you something I learned from birth, taught by my illiterate mother: walk with your head held high. Honor and character are not things you buy in a shopping mall. You are born with character and honor, and you learn them from your father and your mother. If anyone from abroad wants to interfere in Brazil’s elections, let me make this clear: they will take quite a beating here during the elections,” Lula declared.
The president stressed that the power to decide the country's future rests solely with Brazilian voters, highlighting the scale of the election and Brazil’s commitment to self-determination and international peace.
“The future of this country will be decided by 157 million voters. The future of São Paulo will be decided by the people of São Paulo. Consider this a warning. Brazil is sovereign. Brazil wants to maintain relations with every country in the world. Brazil does not want war—it wants peace. Brazil does not want hatred—it wants love. Brazil does not want political squabbling—it wants to work and live with dignity. And that is what we are going to guarantee.”
Taking advantage of the political gathering alongside key allies in São Paulo, Lula also looked ahead to the next presidential election and confirmed his intention to seek re-election.
“And you can be sure of one thing: this 80-year-old young man speaking to you today will win the elections once again in 2026. Brazil’s youth must hold their heads high. Women must hold their heads high. Men must hold their heads high. This country belongs to us, and no one is going to meddle in it!” the president concluded, to applause from supporters in attendance.
