Trump administration campaign revealed

The Donald Trump administration has allocated $1 million to finance a campaign against the STF (Supreme Federal Court) in Brazil. The revelations were published this Thursday by the British newspaper The Guardian, which points out how funds originally designated by the U.S. for the global human rights agenda were redirected to interests of the American far-right.
According to the report, a $1 million grant titled “Combating Lawfare and Censorship in Brazil” would fund civil society groups that oppose what is described as judicial overreach and censorship by Brazil's Supreme Court.
“The Trump administration imposed sanctions on Brazilian Justice Alexandre de Moraes last year, following pressure from Eduardo Bolsonaro, the former president's son,” the article recalled.
According to the newspaper, a Democratic congressional aide stated that a senator from the Foreign Relations Committee, Jeanne Shaheen, had maintained a hold on ten fund transfers totaling $22 million, which were destined for projects in Brazil, South Africa, and Nigeria, as well as the promotion of right-wing ideology in the United Kingdom and Europe.
This week, Shaheen sent a letter to the Trump administration to denounce interference in the Brazilian election and to demand that the White House recognize the country's election results.
According to the aide consulted by the newspaper, Secretary of State Marco Rubio had personally signed a memorandum to bypass the senator's holds and authorize the commitment of the funds.
The money comes from the Human Rights and Democracy Fund, created to finance Trump's conservative agenda around the world and, according to its critics, attack any type of opposition.
“The largest transfer, worth $40 million, was allocated to a consortium led by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC)—an anti-communist non-profit organization that had previously received much smaller grants,” the report indicated.
A State Department background check document reviewed by The Guardian records previous contracts between the foundation and the agency totaling $96,997 over the last five years—all in fiscal year 2022—and notes that the entity underwent a review in 2019 regarding tickets to the foundation's gala event.
The document also identifies Andrew Bremberg—a former domestic policy advisor at the White House during the Trump administration and former U.S. ambassador to the UN office in Europe—as a “senior leader” of the foundation.
